OVERVIEW

The Unit for Corporate Governance in Africa at the USB conducts multi-disciplinary research, educational and development activities with the aim of improving the effectiveness of corporate governance in African organisations.

The Unit focuses on:

  • The development of the compliance and performance aspects of directors' attitudes, knowledge and skills
  • The link between corporate governance, business ethics and total organisational performance.

The Unit is chaired by Prof Bob Garratt, international corporate governance expert, author and professor extraordinaire at the USB, and headed by Daniel Malan, senior lecturer in Ethics and Governance at the USB, and associate director of KPMG Sustainability Services. The Unit operates under the auspices of the USB's Centre for Development Policy and Partnership.
